LOS ANGELES-WBC#3 ranked OPBF 130-pound champ Randy Suico (23-1, 20 KOs), Philippines, and ex-IBF lightweight ruler Javier Jauregui (49-12-2, 34 KOs), Mexico, both arrived in Los Angeles prior to their highly anticipated encounter at the USC Lyon Center here on this coming Friday. Jauregui, 32, acquired the IBF 135-pound belt by stopping Leavander Johnson in eleven rounds in November 2003 but lost it to Julio Diaz by a majority decision in his first defense in March of the previous year. Suico, who gained the vacant OPBF super-feather belt in 2002, once fought in Las Vegas, stopping Juan Carlos Garcia in four rounds in 2002. Though successfully defending his OPBF belt four times, Suico dropped a split verdict to Mzonke Fana, though flooring him twice, in a WBC eliminator to decide the official challenger in South Africa in May of the last year. The Filipino, 25, scored a couple of OPBF title defenses after his sole setback. This show is presented by Golden Boy Promotions to be telecast by Telefutura.
