YOKOHAMA, JAPAN-Hard-hitting but awkward Teruyoshi Ohmagari (15-4-3, 14 KOs) astoundingly wrested the Japanese welterweight belt as he swarmed over OPBF top ranked national champ Tadashi Yuba (27-3-2, 19 KOs), sent him to the deck three times and scored an unexpectedly quick demolition at 0:40 into the first round on Friday in Yokohama, Japan. Itfs beyond description how stunning an upset it was. WBC #23 Yuba, an elongated lefty six-footer, had achieved three different national belts in the light, super-light and welter categories, and was regarded as one of the most stable national champs here. Hard-punching as he was, Ohmagari was only a slow-punching and less skillful underdog. Itfs the shortest KO record in the national welter title bouts in history, and the second quickest in all the national title goes. Japan might suffer a hurricane of upsets, following yesterdayfs great upset seen in WBC#4 Shoji Kimurafs forfeiture of the national 122-pound throne to lightly-regarded Rikiya Fukuhara in Tokyo.
Japanese #8 ranked welter Taisei Marumoto (18-5-1, 7 KOs) was awarded a technical decision over #9 gJapanese Arturo Gattih Takao Onda (15-4, 12 KOs) in the eighth of a supporting ten.
