TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten Russian import, WBC#5/WBA#13 Sasha Baktin (15-0, 5KOs), 118, kept his Japanese bantam belt as he utilized his superiorheight and reach in giving a lesson to game southpaw Masayoshi Tachiki(11-5-2, 2 KOs), 118, en route to a unanimous decision (98-94 twice and97-95) over ten frames on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. The light-punchingbut tremendously sharp Russian, six years his junior at 24, gained hisrhythm and swept almost all rounds from the third round on. Sasha, making his eighth defense, scored just a single KO win in his defenses, but decisively defeated all challengers via lopsided decisions. Sasha, however, hardly gave the crowd any thrill or excitement in every fight, though we appreciate his technical excellence.
Lefty superwelter Tomohiro Mitsunaga (4-2, 4 KOs), 153.25, dropped alantern-jawed hard-puncher Yasuhito Kasagi (16-9-2, 15 KOs), 154, in thesecond and halted him with the reffs intervention at 0:45 ofthe third canto in a supporting eight.
