TOKYO, JAPAN-WBA#9/WBC#9 ranked OPBF lightweight champ Chikashi Inada(19-2, 14 KOs), 134.75, kept his regional belt as he mercilesslybattered Korean ruler Youngbeum Lee (6-4, no KO), 135, from all anglesto prompt the referee Anek Hongtongkam’s intervention at 2:21of the fourth round on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. The elongated champscored with good body shots to the Korean southpaw, a late substitutefor Indonesian champ Larry Siwu who refused to come here because of hisweight problem and almost destroyed this promotion. Inada, in thefourth, pinned him to the ropes with a fusillade of punches prior to thewell-received stoppage. All the officials, scoring ref Anek, JaekeunKim and Ukrid Sarasas, identically tallied 30-27 after the third.
Fast-rising Floyd Mayweather stylist Akifumi Shimoda (12-0, 8 KOs), 122,pounded out a shutout verdict (all 100-90) over Japanese #5 ranked122-pounder Tsutomu Odashima (9-8-2, 4 KOs), 122, over ten. Thefast-rising and vastly talented southpaw is worth watching in thefuture.
