SIMADA, JAPAN-WBA#3/WBC#11 light-fly Nobuaki Masuda (22-3, 3 KOs),107.75, successfully retained his Japanese 108-pound belt as he provedbusier and tougher than top contender Yukio Wadamine (17-3-1, 13 KOs),107.75, winning a unanimous decision (97-94 twice and 97-95) over tenframes on Saturday in Shimada, Japan. Masuda, who had entered the worldratings thanks to having dethroned world-rated Masato Hayakeyama,displayed his workman style in outhustling the hard-hitting challenger.Wadamine showed his best in the eighth, but wasnft enough tocapture the national belt.
