OSAKA, JAPAN-Japanese #3 ranked local prospect Daigoro Yamamoto (10-2-3,8 KOs), 141, came off the canvas in the third and finally finished OPBF#2 super-light Dindo Castanares (17-4-2, 13 KOs), 141, for the count at2:58 of the seventh round in a scheduled ten on Sunday in Osaka, Japan.Itfs a Fight of the Month in Japan. The Filipino puncherlanded a wicked right cross counter to the Japanese opponent, flooringhim in the third, when Yamamoto began to bleed from the nostrils, andCastanares from the mouth. The fourth saw Yamamoto retaliate with asolid right and had him staggering effectively. They kept swapping allthey had in the fifth and sixth. Yamamotofs right counter,in round seven, decked Castanares so badly that he stood up but becamerubbery-legged like a sleep walker such as Trevor Berbick in his fightwith Mike Tyson, raising himself up and down while the ref competing thecount. Yamamoto, who decked an important victory, wishes to have anambitious shot at the OPBF belt against Jungbum Kim early next year.
The following were all supporting ten rounders. Takashi Miura (7-1-1, 4KOs), 129.25, displayed a fine form in scoring a one-punch knockout overThailander Wanghin Chuwatana (4-6-1, 1 KO), 129.25, with a straightright at 2:46 of the fourth. Takeshi Mitsuyama (5-1, 3 KOs), put on alackluster performance but finally dug a solid body shot to ThailanderWeerachai Chuwatana (8-11, 4 KOs), 125.75, dropping him for the count at1:58 of the seventh. Thailandfs Krongchai Sor Thiabkhun(6-5, 3 KOs), 112, stunned the spectators with his unexpectedly quickdemolition of previously unbeaten Japanese Tatsuma Ohora (7-1-1, 2 KOs),112, at 2:22 of the first round, as he floored the loser with a rightuppercut and finally sank him with a strong right following solidcombinations.
Prior to the main event, a ceremony was held in commemoration ofcurrently WBA#11/WBC#12 ranked bantam Eiji Kojimafs pitifulretirement because of a detached retina, although he was slated toappear as a headliner against Thai champ Kaonah Khlongphajon tonight.
