TOKYO, JAPAN-Japan has become hot with a series of world title competitions; the WBC superfly title bout between Masamori Tokuyama and Jose Navarro on Monday (February 27), the WBA minimum title go of Yutaka Niida and Ronald Barrera next Saturday (March 4) and the WBC bantam championship game of Hozumi Hasegawa and ex-champ Veeraphol Nakhornluang-Promotion on March 25.
The Colombian challenger Ronald Barrera (14-1-1, 8 KOs) arrived in Tokyo on Saturday, a week before his crack at the WBA 105-pound throne against Yutaka Niida (19-1-3, 8 KOs) at the Korakuen Hall here. Barrera was accompanied by his manager Jesus Agresott and his trainer early in the morning. The 21-year-old Colombian, after taking a rest, started workout at Akihiko Hondafs Teiken Gym in the afternoon. Still feeling time difference, he will get accustomed to it and still cool weather in Japan to have good condition in a week. Barrera, WBA #8 ranked contender, will cover the following schedule:
Public workout on Wednesday
Medical exam on Thursday
Press conference and weigh-in ceremony on Friday
Title bout at night on Saturday
