WBC#21 KONISHI DISMANTLES KANG IN ONE

March 5, 2006

GIFU, JAPAN-WBC#21 ranked superfly Akio Konishi (18-0, 15 KOs), 121.5, decked his first game after moving up to the 122-pound category, as he demolished Korean #3 bantam Junghoon Kang (4-5, 3 KOs), 119.25, dropping him three times en route to an automatic KO at 2:33 of the first round in a scheduled ten on Sunday in Gifu, Japan. Konishi, an awkward hard-puncher, had entered the WBCfs top 40 thanks to his upset technical decision over Joven Jorda last year.

Ex-OPBF challenger Sunao Uno (16-6-2, 11 KOs), 121.5, made a return to the ring, but was miserably stopped by unheralded Tomo Hata (7-4, 4 KOs), 121.75, at 0:42 of the seventh. Tanaka made him a bloody mess due to Unofs bad bleeding from many gashes at the left eyebrow, nose and forehead.

Yusuke Morishima (17-7-4, 4 KOs), 117.5, floored Minoru Masuda (8-14-1, 3 KOs), 118, twice and halted him at 2:34 of the fourth round.
