Kobe, Japan--Fast-punching southpaw Hozumi Hasegawa (20-2, 7 KOs), 118, impressively kept his WBC bantam belt as he badly dropped ex-champ Veeraphol Nakhornluang-Promotion (52-3-2, 37 KOs), 117.75, with a single southpaw right hook, the first punch of the round, to make him unable to go on at 0:19 of the ninth round on Saturday night in Kobe, Japan. Before the clearcut stoppage the official tallies were quite identical: 77-75 for the more aggressive and much faster Hasegawa.
