TOKYO, JAPAN-Former Japanese 122-pound champ Shoji Kimura (19-1-1, 7 KOs), 123.5, was awarded a less impressive unanimous decision (98-96, 98-93 and 98-92) over WBA #4 ranked ex-world ruler Yoddamrong Sithyodthong Singwangcha (45-3-1, 20 KOs), 123.5, in ten lousy rounds on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. Yoddamrong seemed to have left his fighting spirit in his native Thailand, as he seldom threw solid blows and looked just content to block the Japanese boxer’s light combinations. Kimura, dethroned by Rikiya Fukuhara in his previous bout, didn’t look impressive as he kept peppering him on the guard. Neither absorbed any punishment after the fight, which showed what a dull affair it was. The Thailander was penalized twice for a low blow in the same eighth, as Kimura exaggeratedly knelt down to appeal his damage to the referee. Yoddamrong’s Japanese cornermen inexplicably didn’t appear to properly tell how to penetrate Kimura’s peek-a-boo guard.
WBC #15 superfly Kohei Ohba (16-0-1, 8 KOs), 118.75, had a tough time coping with the busy, if not solid, combinations of Riki Shinpo (10-4, 4 KOs), 118.5, but earned a generous decision (all 98-94) in ten. Ohba, a self-proclaimed Floyd Mayweather stylist, only imitated Floyd shoving his opponent’s attack with his back to the ropes, which had Shinpo look well with his aggressiveness. Ohba had better change his style to a better one for him.

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten prospect, OPBF #2 ranked Akira Yaegashi (4-0, 3 KOs), ex-amateur champ at 104.75, acquired the vacant OPBF 105-pound throne by demolishing OPBF top ranked Thai champ Wirasak Chuwatana (8-11, 6 KOs), 104.75, at 2:19 of the fifth round on Monday in Yokohama, Japan. Leading on points, Yaegashi, handled by ex-WBC and WBA 105-pound champ Hideyuki Ohashi, turned loose to batter the game Thailander and finally sank him with a fusillade of punches for the count.
WBC top ranked ex-115-pound champ Katsushige Kawashima (30-4, 20 KOs), 104.75, showed a pier six brawl with Korean #2 ranked superfly Jaechun Moon (6-4, 3 KOs), floored him in the fourth and fatal eighth and chalked up a TKO win at 2:22 of the eighth session in a scheduled ten. Moon’s tremendous durability won the crowd’s praise, but Kawashima was too powerful and pugnacious for the less experienced Korean.
