UNBEATEN KAMEDA DISMANTLES FAJARDO

May 05, 2006

Unbeaten WBC/WBA#4 flyweight sensation Koki Kameda (11-0, 10 KOs), 112, looked very impressive as he battered IBF#4/WBC#32 Nicaraguan Carlos Fajardo (15-7-1-2NC, 10 KOs), 111.75, upstairs and downstairs in the first round, dropped him with a countering southpaw left and accelerated his attack to prompt the referee Uratanifs intervention at 1:18 of the second round on Friday night in Tokyo, Japan. Kameda, 19, showed his rapid improvement in whipping the more experienced opponent with precision and power, having him groggy in the end of the opening canto. Kameda, in round two, floored Fajardo with a vicious left hook, and swarmed over him with a fusillade of punches to pin him to the ropes. The reffs stoppage was well-received by some 10,000 witnesses at the Ariake Coliseum. Kameda is gunning for a world title shot in his next game this summer as he decked his final tune-up go.

Undercard:

Unbeaten 17-year-old brother Daiki Kameda (3-0, 2 KOs), 117, annihilated Thailander Kittipop Saengdee-gym (6-4-1, no KO), 116.75, by sending him sprawling to the deck twice and for the count at 1:31 of the first round in a scheduled eight.

Promoter: Kyoei Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi (as for the Kameda-Fajardo bout).
