KISHIDA DEFEATS THAI CHAMP SURIYA

May 28, 2006

WAKAYAMA, JAPAN

Local prospect Naoya Kishida (12-3-3, 5 KOs), 108, decked an important triumph over OPBF#6 ranked Thai national light-fly champ Suriya Khlongphajon (5-2, 2 KOs), 109, by a split but well-received decision over ten fast rounds on Sunday in Wakayama, Japan. Suriya had captured the Thai belt by winning a 10-round decision over Fahlanong Singdongthai on February 26. Kishida, a busy-punching southpaw, outworked the Thailander in later rounds to earn a decision.

Undercard:

Thailander Jomhoad Dokplamorku (6-2, 3 KOs) battered the rib cage of Nobukazu Hirose, Japan, who complained of a pain with his absorption of solid body shots and retired after the sixth in a scheduled super-welter eight.

Promoter: Kuratoki Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi.
