WBC#7 lightweight Takehiro Shimada (19-3-1, 12 KOs), 137.25, kept outjabbing overmatched Korean Doosung Kim (5-11, 2 KOs), 135.25, before he caught him with a barrage of punches followed by a wicked body shot that sank him in agony for the count at 1:58 of the fourth session on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan. The 34-year-old Shimada moved to-and-fro to avert Kimfs roundhouse blows and scored good jabs with precision.

Undercard:

Japanese #10 superbantam Yujiro Sugita (10-1, 5 KOs), 122, floored game and gutsy Tomoyuki Kubota (10-7-1, 1 KO), 122, in the opening canto, withstood his furious retaliation in the second and third, and finally dispatched him with sharp combinations at 0:52 of the fifth round. The winnerfs twin brother Junichiro Sugita (10-1, 5 KOs), 115, came off the canvas and fought back hard to earn a unanimous nod over Mamoru Murohashi (5-2-1, no KO), 114.75, over six.
