WBC bantamweight champ Hozumi Hasegawa announced that he suffered a ribinjury to be unable to participate in a mandatory title bout with topranked official challenger Genaro Garcia in Tokyo, Japan, as scheduledon July 15. The Japanese southpaw will need some 45 days before heresumes training. The promoter Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions willsee Hasegawa’s sound recovery and then decide a new fightdate accordingly.
