WORLD TITLE TWINBILL IN JAPAN ON NOV. 13

September 17, 2006

TOKYO, JAPAN

Akihiko Hondafs Teiken Promotions announced a world title twinbill at the Budokan (Martial Arts Hall) in Tokyo, Japan, on November 13. WBC bantam champ Hozumi Hasegawa (20-2, 7 KOs) will risk his belt against perennial top contender and official challenger Genaro Garcia (35-4, 20 KOs), Mexico, in a mandatory title bout. WBC straw ruler Eagle Kyowa (16-1, 6 KOs), a Japan-based Thailander, will also put his belt on the line against Mexican Lorenzo Trejo (25-14, 13 KOs) over twelve rounds. Hasegawa, a fast-punching southpaw making his third defense, was once slated to face Garcia with his throne at stake on July 15, but it was postponed because of his rib injury during a workout. Eagle, also making his third defense, defeated official challenger Rodel Mayol by a unanimous verdict here in Tokyo last May.
