KAMEDA SQUEAKS BY SANCHEZ

September 27, 2006

TOKYO, JAPAN

Unbeaten hard-punching prospect Daiki Kameda (6-0, 4 KOs), 115.75, a 17-year-old brother of the sensational WBA 108-pound champ Koki Kameda, earned a hairline majority decision (77-76 twice and 77-77) over WBC#21 ranked superfly Valerio Sanchez (24-13-2, 17 KOs), 115.75, over eight heats on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan.

Kameda swarmed over the 36-year-old ex-Mexican champ with his trademark left hooks and almost toppled him in the first two rounds. Sanchez, however, solved his peek-a-boo tactics and went to penetrate his tight guard by lifting many uppercuts to the face from the third. Daiki began to bleed from the nostrils in the third, and kept streaming red ribbon profusely thereafter. They mixed it up toe-to-toe and Sanchez showed his last surge to hurt the less experienced prospect. Daiki showed his power, but Sanchez displayed his experience in the very competitive combat.

Undercard:

Unbeaten Japanese #2 welter Akibe Ushiwakamaru (10-0, 9 KOs), 148.75, landed a looping southpaw left hook to drop Korean #2 ranked superlight Chanjong Kim (12-8-1, 2 KOs), 147.5, for the count at 2:31 of the opening session.

Promoter: Kyoei Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi.
