KAMEDA, LANDAETA REMATCH POSTPONED

October 2, 2006

TOKYO, JAPAN

A highly anticipated rematch between defending champ Koki Kameda and Venezuelan challenger Juan Jose Landaeta with the WBA 108-pound belt at stake scheduled on October 18 was postponed until the middle of December. Kamedafs promoter Keiichiro Kanehira announced today (Monday) that Kameda sustained such a bag gash during a sparring session on Friday that it required eight stitches, which eventually caused the postponement. Kameda, the flamboyant unbeaten 19-year-old sensation, acquired the vacant WBA light-flyweight belt by a debatable split verdict here in Tokyo this August, and all aficionados look forward to watching their rematch. Be patient until before this coming Christmas.
