SUICO, PONGPETCH FACE FOR OPBF 135LB BELT

October 12, 2006

CEBU, PHILIPPINES

WBC#9/WBA#15 ranked Filipino hard-puncher Randy Suico will square off against Thailander Pongpetch Chuwatana in a quest for the vacant OPBF lightweight belt in Cebu, Philippine on this coming Saturday. The elimination bout was postponed for a week from the originally slated October 7. Suico, fresh from his previous WBA shot against Juan Diaz in Las Vegas last July, hopes to show a good performance before his local adherents under Rex Wakee Saludfs promotion.

Also, the OPBF 115-pound champ Z Gorres, a southpaw Filipino prospect, renounced his regional belt last week to give the priority to his US campaign in association with Golden Boy Promotions. Japanese Kuniyuki Aizawa, who was supposed to have a title shot against Gorres, will face Thai national champ Petchklongphai Soh Dharnthip for the vacant throne in Tokyo on December 11 under the condition that the winner and new champ will meet the OPBF leading available contender.
