NASHIRO FACES GARCIA TOMORROW

December 1, 2006

OSAKA, JAPAN

Unbeaten WBA 115-pound champ Nobuo Nashiro (8-0, 5 KOs), Japan, will put his belt on the line against Mexican Eduardo Garcia (17-4, 7 KOs) tomorrow (Saturday) in Osaka, Japan. Nashiro, making his initial defense, captured the WBA throne by halting highly regarded Martin Castillo in the tenth round by deteriorating his nasty cut with his continual assault this July. The short but sturdy Japanese puncher had been leading on points before the well-received stoppage. Nashiro once employed Garcia as one of his foreign sparring partners prior to his shot at Castillo, and knows the Mexicanfs style as Garcia does.

The weigh-in ceremony took place in Osaka, where Nashiro and Garcia both scaled in at 52.0 kilogram (114.75 lbs). The officials are as follows: referee Mark Nelson (US); judges Rafael Carabano (Venezuela), Chalerm Prayadsab (Thailand) and Kwanho Jang (Korea); and supervisor Alan Kim (Korea).

This show is presented by Mutoh Promotions in association with Teiken Promotions.
