TOKUYAMA RENOUNCES WBC 115LB BELT

December 10, 2006

OSAKA, JAPAN

WBC super-flyweight champ Masamori Tokuyama, Japan, officially renounced his belt through the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC). He kept his throne by outscoring the top contender Jose Navarro last February, and hasnft fought since for some ten months. He will move up to the bantam category to anticipate a shot at the WBC 118-pound belt against Japanfs Hozumi Hasegawa, who, however, seems reluctant to face Tokuyama in a voluntary defense. If so, it might be a question whether Tokuyama will go on fighting until he becomes the WBCfs official challenger, since he declares that he will sing a swan song in his one and only big game next.
