KAMEDA DEMOLISHES WBA#4 TAHUMIL

February 23, 2007

SAPPORO, JAPAN

Unbeaten WBC#26 ranked Daiki Kameda (8-0, 6 KOs), 113.5, decked an important victory as he outhustled previously undefeated WBA#4 light-fly Vicky Tahumil (30-1-2, 9 KOs), 111.75, dropping him twice and for the count at 1:18 of the third round on Friday in Sapporo, Japan.

Tahumil started well with quick combinations, showing side-to-side mobility to frustrate the 18-year-old prospect, who, however, kept boring in with roundhouse body shots to win the first. Kameda displayed rough-and-tumble tactics to fall together with the veteran Indonesian in the closing seconds of the second. The referee ordered Tahumil to stand up and fight, but he stayed on the deck, so he started counting to have the Indonesian up forcibly. Tahumil resumed fighting and was saved by the bell.

The third followed a similar pattern of the previous session, as Tahumil was down again from Kamedafs assault. The 32-year-old Indonesian paid no effort to raise himself up only to be counted out there. It was such a rough affair as a Marlon Starling-Mark Breland bout since Tahumil exhausted himself as he was pushed down repeatedly. Tahumil seemed to have left his fighting spirit in his country only to be a stepping stone for the up-and-coming youngster, who will campaign in the flyweight division from now on.

Undercard:

Japanese #2 welter Akibe Ushiwakamaru (12-0, 11 KOs), 146.5, floored OPBF#14 super-light Joko Tunggal (12-7, 7 KOs), 145.75, three times to score an automatic KO win at 1:15 of the first round in a supporting ten.

Promoter: Kyoei Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi.
