WBO#2 REXON FLORES ARRIVES IN JAPAN

March 20, 2008

TOKYO, JAPAN

WBO#2 light-fly Filipino Rexon Flores (18-3, 9 KOs) arrived in Tokyo, Japan, on Wednesday before his encounter with ex-WBA 108-pound champ, WBA#1/WBC#3 flyweight Koki Kameda (16-0, 11 KOs) in Chiba on Saturday. Flores, accompanied by his trainer Roel Morata, appeared in a public workout at the Kyoei Gym in the center of Tokyo. As the 25-year-old Filipino was already under the contracted weight, he showed only shadow-boxing and mitt-hitting for each one round and accepted the Japanese pressf interview.

"I have never seen any films of Kameda, and only what I know is he is southpaw. Ifm a scientific boxer-puncher and will show a good fight against Kameda. I hope to move up by defeating him.h

Flores, now the WBO intercontinental 108-pound champ, previously displayed his admirable durability against Omar Narvaez in a bid for the WBO flyweight belt in Cordoba, Argentina, in August 2006. Since Kameda, still 21, is a lefty like Narvaez, his performance against Flores may be a criterion to prove how strong the flamboyant Japanese sensation is in the 112-pound category.
