WBA#2 NASHIRO SINKS SAIRUNG

March 23, 2008

OKINAWA, JAPAN

WBA#2 ranked ex-WBA super-fly champ Nobuo Nashiro (11-1, 7 KOs), 118, started fireworks from the outset and sank Thai southpaw Sairung Suwanasil (reportedly 42-13, 26 KOs), 118, with a solid straight right to the button at 2:24 of the third round in a scheduled ten on Sunday in Uruma city, Okinawa, Japan. Nashiro once captured the WBA 115-pound belt by decking an upset stoppage of Martin Castillo because of the defending champfs terribly nasty cut, but yielded it to Munoz via unanimous nod last year. Nashiro is gunning for a shot at the WBA belt again within this year.

Undercard:

Local prospect Masato Maedo (14-2-2, 6 KOs), 129, pounded out a narrow unanimous decision (96-95, 96-94 and 98-96) over Thai national 122-pound champ Kumarnthong Por Pluemkamol (17-12-1, 13 KOs), 127.5, over ten. OPBF#5 bantam Kaona Klongpajol, 120.75, was held to a split draw (97-95, 95-96 and 96-96) by Satoshi Makino (8-5, 2 KOs) over ten. Thai light-fly champ Suriya Klongpajol, 112, earned a majority decision (96-94, 96-95 and 95-95) over Katsuhiko Arakaki (10-6-1, 1 KO), 112, over ten.
