NAGANAWA RENOUNCES OPBF 112LB BELT

March 28, 2008

TOKYO, JAPAN

WBC#14 Masaharu Naganawa has renounced his OPBF flyweight belt because of detached retina and hung up gloves for good. Having dethroned Filipino defending champ Jojo Bardon last August, Naganawa was slated to make his initial defense against compatriot Masafumi Ohkubo in Tokyo on April 14. But Ohkubo will have to face some highly ranked contender for the vacant regional belt, under the OPBFfs sanction, with the winner and new champ to face the OPBF top contender and ex-champ Bardon due to the option agreement.
