TOKYO, JAPAN
WBA lightweight champ Jose Alfaro (20-3-1NC, 18 KOs), Nicaragua, arrived in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday to prepare for his initial defense against Japanese challenger Yusuke Kobori (22-2-1, 11 KOs) next Monday. Alfaro has been diligently training at Kadoebi Jewel Gym in Tokyo, where the champ happened to see the challenger on Monday. Kobori engaged in a public workout for the press that day, but Alfarofs group showed no interest in watching it and left the gym early. Co-promoter Don King is supposed to come here since Alfaro is under his promotional agreement. As Kobori, ex-OPBF super-feather champ, is reported to be in good shape, it may become a competitive fight.
