WADAMINE WINS OPBF 108LB BELT

November 3, 2008

FUKUOKA, JAPAN

Japanese local prospect Yukio Wadamine (25-3-1, 19 KOs) , 108, acquired the vacant OPBF light-flyweight belt as he apparently dominated the second half and earned a split but well-received decision (116-113, 116-114 and 113-115) over OPBF top ranked Thai national champ Suriya Khlongphajon (11-6, 3 KOs), 108, in a hard-fought twelve on Monday in Fukuoka, Japan.

It was a very competitive fight with Suriya dominating the first half and Wadamine the last half. Suriya displayed fast left leads and threw good leathers aggressively, but the tide visibly turned in the seventh. Wadamine turned so aggressive that he positively unleashed solid one-two combinations to take back the initiative. The Japanese prospect showed his best in round eight, when he effectively shook him up with a barrage of punches. Suriya displayed heavy punches, but Wadamine exerted his last energy and will power to be in command in the final session. The newly crowned Wadamine will be obliged to make his initial defense against OPBF#2 Katsuhiko Iezumi.

Promoter: Chikuho Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi.
