Notorious ex-world flyweight challenger Daiki Kameda (11-1, 8 KOs), 115.75, returned to ring warfare after a one-year suspension as he impressively scored a knockout victory over Mexican Angel Rezago (16-8-2, 9 KOs), 115, at 1:47 of the fifth round in a scheduled ten on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan.
Daiki, a 19-year-old brother of ex-WBA 108-pound champ Koki, was obliged to be inactive because he repeated hitting low and threw defending champ Daisuke Naito in his world crack at the WBC flyweight throne last October to be severely suspended for no less than twelve months thereafter. Then Daiki failed to win the belt, losing a unanimous nod and causing nationwide criticisms.
Daiki, a peek-a-boo stylist, made good use of footwork and started his engine from the third, often pinning the fleet-footed Mexican to the ropes with a flurry of punches. In the fatal fifth, Daiki landed a solid and accurate shot to the solar-plexus to have Rezago kneel down. The game Mexican resumed fighting, but Daiki connected with a triple left uppercut to the midsection and floored him again, this time, for the count.
