Ex-WBC challenger and ex-OPBF champ, Akira Yaegashi (10-2, 7 KOs), 108, proved too strong for Thailander Worawut Wor. Por. Sisaket (8-4, 3 KOs), 108.5, as he dropped him in the second and third, and finally halted him with the referee’s intervention at 2:11 of the third session on Tuesday in Tokyo, Japan.
Yaegashi, formerly national amateur champ, had an unsuccessful title shot at the WBC 105-pound belt against Eagle Den Junlaphan in June 2007, and then had his jaw fractured by the champ’s opening attack. Only his pride and determination had him go on despite a lopsided decision loss. Yaegashi had to have a ten-month hiatus prior to his comeback in April 2008. In his second comebacking bout, however, Yaegashi disappointingly dropped a majority decision to unheralded southpaw Masatate Tsuji last June only to drop his stock to the bottom. But Yaegashi is still one of the best 105-pounders here, and will zoom up soon with his manager/promoter, ex-WBA/WBC minimum ruler Hideyuki Ohashi’s strong support.
Unbeaten southpaw hard-puncher Daiki Uema (7-0, 5 KOs), 112, again scored a one-punch KO over Thailander Ekasith Por. Thitima (7-7, 1 KO), 111, with a Hamed-like right uppercut at 0:36 of the second session in a scheduled eight. Uema is still stiff and awkward and had better improve his defensive skills, as he is prone to absorb his opponent’s punishment.
