OSAKA, JAPAN
Formerly world-rated Japan-based Mexian Kenbun Martinez Torres, a son of ex-WBC light-fly champ German Torres, was arrested by the police on Thursday for having robbed a female taxi driver of some $60 last March. Kenbun, still 21, took a cab from Sakai city back to Osaka for forty minutes, but refused to pay and threatened the 58-year-old driver for more dinero.
Kenbun, born in Celaya, GT, Mexico, made a pro debut at the age of sixteen only to be stopped by Ricardo Barajas in Guadalajara in 2003, but came back to his motherfs home country Japan to keep winning and defeated then world-rated Thailander Kumarnthong Por Pluemkamol to enter the world top ten. Kenbun, a stylish hard-puncher, failed to win the vacant Japanese bantam belt, losing a majority nod to Masayuki Mitani in 2006. Since then, he fought just twice to waste his talent. German, scold your bad son! For only sixty dollars, he deteriorated the image of boxing here in Japan.
