OSAKA, JAPAN
Japanese champ Tetsuya Suzuki (23-7, 15 KOs), 159.5, acquired the vacant OPBF middleweight belt (vacated by former champ Koji Sato because of his WBA title shot against Felix Strum) as he was awarded a TKO win over OPBF#3 Korean Pilseung Oh (7-6, 5 KOs), 159, at the end of the eighth round on Sunday in Osaka, Japan. Oh recklessly went forward to force Suzuki to the ropes, but the Japanese southpaw connected with straight lefts and right hooks with better precision. As Suzuki took the initiative in the middle rounds, Oh abruptly called it quits on the stool after the eighth.
