TOKYO, JAPAN
Slick-punching prospect, JBC#5/OPBF#14 bantam Kinshiro Usui (18-2, 8 KOs), 120.25, pounded out a unanimous nod (79-74, 79-75 and 78-75) over OPBF#8 Thai 118-pound champ Kaonah Chuwatana (24-19-3, 19 KOs), 120, over eight sizzling rounds on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
Usui, who had failed to win the national belt from unbeaten world-rated Kohei Ohba via split verdict this March, connected with more accurate combos to the counterpunching Thailander, who continually attempted to score with a solid right cross at a time. Though it was a close affair, Usui dominated more rounds by a slight margin except in the seventh, when Kaonah landed effective rights to the face and was in command.
JBC#6 flyweight Shigetaka Ikehara (18-1-2, 14 KOs), 113.75, displayed a one-punch knockout over Korean top contender Jinki Jung (6-9, no KO), 113.75, at 0:40 of the fifth session. Unbeaten bright prospect, JBC#4/OPBF#14 super-fly Ryo Akaho (13-0-1, 7 KOs), 116, sank TBC#5 Jockylek Sithsoei (10-10-1, 2 KOs), 115.5, to the deck in agony with a wicked left hook to the belly and scored a fine TKO at 2:10 of the third round.
