NAKAGAWA KEEPS JAPANESE 147LB BELT

December 5, 2009

TOKYO, JAPAN

OPBF#1 Japanese welter champ Daisuke Nakagawa (15-2-1, 11 KOs), 146.75, kept his national belt when he accelerated his attack as the contest progressed and finally caught JBC#12 Kazukaze Yamakaze (9-5-1, 2 KOs), 147, to score a TKO win at 2:01 in the tenth and final round on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.

The final session witnessed Nakagawafs last surge pin the fading challenger to the ropes with a fusillade of punches, which prompted the referee Tsuchiyafs intervention.

Undercard:

Unbeaten JBC#1 super-light Yoshihiro Kamegai (14-0, 12 KOs), 141.75, displayed a fine knockout over ex-Philippine light champ JR Sollano (16-12, 12 KOs), 141.5, with a vicious left uppercut to the face at 0:43 of the second round in a scheduled eight. Sollano showed a furious assault in the opening stanza, but Kamegai, a slick-punching prospect, retaliated with shorter combinations and didnft allow the Filipino to take the initiative. Kamegaifs haymaker looked very impressive.

Promoter: Teiken Promotions.
