JBC#4/OPBF#11 bantam Kinshiro Usui (19-2, 9 KOs), 119.25, made such short work of Davide Kitamura (6-8, 3 KOs), 119, halting the overmatched opponent with his blitzkrieg at 0:50 of the second round in a scheduled eight on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
Usui’s assault overwhelmed the loser from the outset, and badly decked him with a smashing left-right combination just after the second started. His furious follow-up logically promoted the referee Fukuchi’s well-time intervention.
Usui had failed to win the national belt via split decision to unbeaten world-rated defending champ Kohei Ohba in Nagoya in March of the previous year. It was his first setback in last four years, but the 30-year-old perennial contender defeated Thai ruler Kaonah Chuwatana in his comebacking bout last August. Now that Ohba renounced his belt, JBC#1 Takuro Kodama and WBC #13 Mikio Yasuda will meet in a quest for the vacant throne in Nagoya on March 7 and the new champ will be obliged to face JBC#2 Shinsuke Yamanaka next. Usui will have to withstand a waiting game for his turn.
Busy-punching JBC#8 middleweight Toru Tanaka (7-1-1, 3 KOs), 159.75, pounded out a nearly lopsided decision (80-71, 80-72 and 79-74) over game and durable southpaw Masaki Yoshida (7-10-2, 3 KOs), 159.75, over eight. Tanaka, however, couldn’t finish the fading foe after a good knockdown by a solid left hook in the fourth only to show his fast but powder-puff punches afterwards.
