WBA#1/WBC#3 OPBF 105-pound champ Yasutaka Kuroki (23-3-1, 15 KOs), 107.75, engaged in a tune-up go prior to his world title shot, and was awarded a TKO victory over JBC#6 light-fly Takumi Suda (10-6-2, 2 KOs), 108, at 1:20 of the sixth round in a scheduled eight on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
After the fight, the 28-year-old cocky southpaw said in the ring, “I’ll fight Oleydong Sithsanerchai for his WBC belt at the Ariake Coliseum on March 27. Please come and see my title shot.” It hadn’t been disclosed at any press conference. Kuroki had been only reported that he would fight for a world throne beneath newly crowned WBC flyweight champ Koki Kameda. If not Sherlock Holmes, we could infer Kameda’s schedule and fight venue as well from Kuroki’s eloquence. Then, who will face Kameda?
It was such a terrible showing by Kuroki, whose title crack we have to be worried about. Busy-moving and fast-punching as he had been, Kuroki tonight looked an ordinarily one-dimensional and least skillful bull-fighter with poor balance. What happened to Kuroki? He impressively dethroned compatriot Toshikazu Waga by a lopsided decision in Nagoya in November 2008, and kept it twice against Junichiro Kaneda and Indonesian Heri Amol. He used to be a Hamed-like tricky and busy footworker, but Kuroki tonight forgot to use his foot only to keep boring in from the head to bloody his opponent with his third punch. Whenever head-collisions occurred, strange enough, it was only Suda that suffered wide and deep cuts over both optics and kept streaming blood to force him to fight under the red curtain over the eyes. Though Suda’s so nasty gashes caused the referee’s halt, his heavy damage wasn’t caused by the champ’s two-fisted attack but by the stone head.
