BANTIGUE ANNIHILATES AOKI

March 21, 2011

OSAKA, JAPAN

OPBF#7 super-fly, Filipino Louie Bantigue (19-14-7, 9 KOs), 115, swarmed over less experienced Japanese prospect Ippei Aoki (6-2, 4 KOs), 115, from the outset, caught him with solid overhand rights and badly dropped him twice prior to a well-received stoppage at 2:27 of the second session on Monday in Osaka, Japan.

Bantigue looked better than his mediocre credentials indicated, and repeatedly connected with right crosses to the taller Japanese. The second round witnessed Bantigue explode a devastating right to have Aoki sprawling to the deck. Aoki barely beat the count but still looked shaky and groggy enough to visit the canvas again with the Filipinofs onslaught. Though Aoki gamely resumed fighting, the third man saw him unfit to go on and called a halt. The Filipino victor decked his third victory in as many bouts here, all within the distance.
