The earthquake and tsunami disaster postponed all cards at the Korakuen Hall after March 11 until April or May, and there happened no shows at the Hall in March thereafter. The Hall, however, has seen a resumption of boxing activities in the beginning of April.
We saw national title tripleheader at the Hall today (Saturday).
WBA#3/WBC#9 Akira Yaegashi (14-2, 7 KOs), 104.75, easily kept his national minimumweight belt by scoring a nearly shutout decision (99-91, 99-92 and 100-91) over WBC/WBA#11 Norihito Tanaka (13-4, 7 KOs), 105, over ten. Tanaka was just a disappointment without showing any strategy against the fleet-footed and fast-handed champ.
WBA#13 Satoshi Hosono (20-1, 14 KOs), 126, also easily retained his national feather throne as he caught overmatched #9 Kazuyoshi Yasuda (8-8, 1 KO), 125.5, en route to an abrupt halt at 1:25 of the third session. What Yasuda displayed against the onrushing champ was only his fast footwork, which stopped with the champfs onslaught in the fatal canto. Hosono, nicknamed Bazooka thanks to his power punching, once moved down to the 122-pound category to have an unsuccessful shot at Poonsawat Kratindaeng-gym and then came back to his previous 126-pound division to regain his national feather belt.
Newly crowned Japanese super-feather champ Seiichi Okada (14-1, 9 KOs), 130, decked his initial defense by dispatching Hero Bando (22-11-7, 9 KOs), 130, at 0:11 of the ninth session. Okada had the veteran loser at bay in the fourth, sixth and eighth to show his superiority in power.
Promoter: Ohashi Promotions.
