TOKYO, JAPAN
WBA#15 lightweight Takehiro Shimada (26-5-1, 17 KOs), 135, a 39-year-old Japanese veteran, proved too ringwise and accurate for Fasanghan Or Benjamad (13-11, 5 KOs), 134.75, a free-swinging Thailander, dropping him three times en route to an automatic KO victory at 2:48 of the second round in a scheduled ten on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
The shaven skulled Japanese looked like a patient monk, as he withstood the Thailanderfs windmill attack in the initial round, covering himself up and probing Fasanghanfs opening recklessness. Shimada, in round two, decked the brutal swinger with a crisp left hook. He floored the fading Thailander with a right hook to the temple for the second time. Fasanghan hit the canvas for the third time with Shimadafs vicious right to the face. Shimda looked impressive as he displayed his superior experience in dispatching the game and gallant visitor in quick fashion.
