SHIMIZU UNAVAILABLE UNTIL NEXT SPRING

TOKYO, JAPAN

Newly crowned WBA super-flyweight champ Tomonobu Shimizu, Japan, will be unavailable to make his initial defense until next spring since he suffered a right eye-socket fracture in his title-winning bout with Mexican Hugo Cazares this August. His manager Kentaro Kaneko said, gShimizu will concentrate on recovering from the eye ailment and then prepare for his first defense, which will take place next April.h The 30-year-old champ hopes to return to ring warfare with his sound recovery next spring.
