Newly crowned WBA super-flyweight champ Tomonobu Shimizu, Japan, will be unavailable to make his initial defense until next spring since he suffered a right eye-socket fracture in his title-winning bout with Mexican Hugo Cazares this August. His manager Kentaro Kaneko said, gShimizu will concentrate on recovering from the eye ailment and then prepare for his first defense, which will take place next April.h The 30-year-old champ hopes to return to ring warfare with his sound recovery next spring.
