OSAKA, JAPAN
WBA bantam champ Koki Kameda (26-1, 17 KOs), 118, retained his throne by scoring a fine knockout over WBA#12 ranked Mexican Mario Macias (23-8-1NC), 118, at 2:04 of the fourth session on Wednesday in Osaka, Japan.
Kameda, a 25-year-old southpaw, had acquired the vacant 118-pound belt by defeating ex-superfly titlist Alexander Munoz last December, and he kept his throne for the third time. Kameda floored Macias, 26, with a smashing left both in the closing seconds of the first and third with the Mexican being saved by the bell. The fourth saw Kameda follow up with body shots that sank the Mexican hombre for the count.
Unbeaten youngest brother Tomoki Kameda, 121.25, decked an easy KO win over Mexican Eduardo Garcia, 121.25, at 1:23 of the seventh session.
Promoter: Kameda Promotions.
