WBC#15 ranked Japanese Hirofumi Mukai (5-1, no KO) will make an ambitious crack at the WBC flyweight belt against formidable southpaw Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (83-3-1, 45 KOs) in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 23. It was announced by Muto Promotions of Osaka. It will take place in celebration of the Thai king’s birth month as previously. Mukai, eight years his junior at 26, failed to win the OPBF 112-pound belt via unanimous decision loss to Filipino Rocky Fuentes this August. Mukai will have a youngster’s chance, if any.
