OSAKA, JAPAN
There was a weigh-in ceremony for tomorrowfs WBA female doubleheader on Saturday in Osaka, Japan. WBA female minimumweight champ Etsuko Tada (9-0-2, 2 KOs), Japan, tipped the beam at the 105-pound class limit, while Mexican Maria Jimenez (9-2-1, 4 KOs) scaled in at 102.75. Newly crowned WBA light-minmumweight ruler Mari Ando (8-3, 4 KOs) , Japan, weighed in at 101.5 to 100.75 for Maria Cuca Jimenez (9-2) from Mexico.
The WBA officials are as follows: referee Romina Arroyo (Argentina); judges Carla Caiz (US), Chalarm Prayadsab (Thailand), Kazunobu Asao (Japan); supervisor Yansup Shim (Korea).
Ms. Arroyo will officiate both title bouts in succession as the third woman. Carla is the daughter of prominent Californian referee Raul Caiz.
On the undercard, OPBF female flyweight champ Go Shindo will participate in a tune-up non-title bout against Thailandfs Nongtak AuKunjahuaykwang-Gym, ex-Muay-thai boxer, over eight rounds. Shindo is willing to have an ambitious crack at WBC flyweight titlist Mariana Juarez either in Japan or in Mexcico..
