KOBE, JAPAN
Having upset then WBC top ranked 130-pounder Dante Jardon in Mexico last December, 31-year-old veteran Japanese campaigner, WBA#6/WBC#14 super-feather Kyohei Tamakoshi (30-7-6, 12 KOs), 130, displayed a one-punch knockout over Petchphaya Kuldampgym (8-5-1, 2 KOs), 130, when he exploded a smashing overhand to the Thailander and flattened him for the count at 2:19 of the second round in a scheduled eight on Sunday in Kobe, Japan. Tamakoshi, who had failed to win OPBF and national 122-pound belts on three occasions, had a tough time coping with the unorthodox opponent in the opening session, but his right hand became a haymaker to quickly solve a puzzle.
In the main event, newly crowned Japanese super-fly champ Teiru Kinoshita (15-0-1, 3 KOs), 114.75, barely kept his belt by a split decision (97-94 twice, 94-96) over JBC#3 ranked Atsushi Kakutani (11-3-1, 5 KOs), 114.5, over ten.
Promoter: Senrima Kobe Promotions.
Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi (as for the Tamakoshi-Petcphaya bout).
