NOZAKI WINS VACANT WBC YOUTH 118LB BELT

Japanese prospect Masamichi Nozaki (16-3-1, 6 KOs) (right), 118, acquired the vacant WBC youth bantamweight belt as he overcame a knockdown in the fourth and kept peppering Filipino Vergel Nebran (8-4-1, 6 KOs), 118, winning a split verdict (95-94 twice and 94-95) over ten heats on Sunday in Okinawa, Japan.

Hard-hitting Japan-based Filipino flyweight Wars Katsumata (18-6, 16 KOs), 115.25, dispatched Indonesian southpaw Isack Junior (20-3-2, 8 KOs), 115.5, at 0:26 of the eighth and final session.

Comebacking Koseki Nakama (15-4, 6 KOs), 130, scored a unanimous decision (all 78-74) over OPBF-rated Indonesian Robert Kopa Palue (11-5-2, 3 KOs), 129.25, over eight.

Okinawa-born southpaw Go Onaga (18-2-2, 13 KOs), 116, decked a fine victory before his native supporters by halting Filipino Jaypee Otilla (9-5-2, 6 KOs), 115.25, at 1:15 of the second session in a scheduled eight.

Fast-rising Shogo Ishikawa (10-3, 3 KOs), 130, defeated OPBF#6 feather Cirilo Espino (17-11-2, 11 KOs), 130, a Filipino tough boy, by a close but unanimous nod (77-76 twice and 77-75) over eight.
