INOUE ACQUIRES JAPANESE 108LB BELT IN FOURTH PRO BOUT

August 25, 2013

ZAMA, JAPAN

Unbeaten twenty-year-old boy Naoya Inoue (4-0, 3 KOs), 108, captured the Japanese national light-flyweight belt in his fourth pro bout when he made good use of his versatile left hand and quick combinations en route to a unanimous decision (98-93, 98-92 and 97-94) over WBA#3 ranked defending champ Ryoichi Taguchi (18-2-1, 8 KOs), 108, over ten fast rounds on Sunday in Zama, Japan. Inoue failed to extend his knockout streak, but displayed his superior skills and excellent speed in whipping the 26-year-old defending champ.

Inoue was in command by taking the leadoff from the outset, but Taguchi occasionally attempted to score right crosses over Inouefs busy and accurate jabs. Inouefs left hand, however, was faster and more effective all the way.

Promoter: Ohashi Promotions.
