WBC female flyweight champion Go Shindo (14-2, 9 KOs), 112, successfully retained her belt as she controlled the action from the outset, accelerated a two-fisted attack and finally halted #11 Kledpetch Lookmuangkan (6-3, 1 KO), 110.5, with a barrage of unanswered punches at 0:19 of the eighth round on Sunday in Wakayama, Japan. Shindo, 26, looked impressive and improved with sharp combinations to the Thai southpaw, who gamely retaliated despite her absorption of Shindo’s stronger combinations. Steadily piling up points in every session, Shindo went all out for a finish in the seventh, which Thai judge Anek Hongtongkam tallied 10-8 for the champ though there were no knockdowns therein. Shindo registered her second defense since she captured the WBC throne by dethroning Hungarian lefty Renata Szebeledi a year ago. Shindo once failed to win the same belt from the then WBC ruler Mariana Juarez of Mexico by a controversial split verdict (96-95 and 96-94 for Juarez, 97-93 for Shindo) in Los Angeles in 2012, but now reigns as the flyweight champ of the WBC to her credit.
Former WBA 105-pound champ Etsuko Tada (13-1-2, 3 KOs), 105.25, returned to the ring warfare and displayed her good form in stopping Thailander Ratsada Sor. Worapin (7-6-1, 1 KO), 107.5, at 1:14 of the eighth and final session. Tada, a fast-punching southpaw, had swept all rounds prior to the stoppage and battered her with her quick combos in the fatal round.
