TOKYO, JAPAN
WBA/WBO 122-pound champ Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9 KOs), an unbeaten southpaw originally hailing from Cuba, will come to Japan to put his belts on the line against OPBF feather ruler Hisashi Amagasa (28-4-2, 19 KOs), an elongated Japanese, in Osaka, Japan, on the last day of the year. Also, former champ Katsunari Takayama (27-7, 10 KOs) will dispute vacant IBF/WBO 105-pound titles lately renounced by Francisco Rodriguez Jr. with a compatriot Go Odaira (11-3-3, only a KO) on the same show. These two title bouts have been added to the already announced six world title contests in the capital Tokyo on December 30 and 31, as written below.
The Rigondeaux-Amagasa matchup was beyond our imagination and expectation, since Amagasa, standing 5f10 1/2h, is a full-fledged 126-pounder and hasnft fought in the 122-pound category since his debut in 2004. Amagasa himself says, gIfll have no problem to make the weighth and we hope he will make a good condition to show a good performance.
