TOKYO, JAPAN
45-year-young energetic Japanese girl Nao Ikeyama (16-3-1, 4 KOs), 101.75, impressively kept her WBO 102-pound belt when she defeated Filipino Norj Guro (7-4-1, 4 KOs), 100.5, by a unanimous decision (99-91, 98-92 twice) over ten lopsided rounds on Saturday in Osaka, Japan. Ikeyama kept stalking and punching Guro all the way to score her second defense since her coronation in the previous year.
In a companion title go, WBO female 105-pound ruler Kumiko Seeser Ikehara (6-1-2, 3 KOs), 104.75, unsatisfactorily retained her title as she was held to a technical draw by Filipino challenger Jessebelle Pagaduan (7-1-1, 4 KOs), 103.75, at the end of the opening session due to the champfs horizontal two-inch cut on the forehead caused by an accidental butt in the closing seconds of the round. It was the 30-year-old Ikeharafs initial defense since she acquired the vacant championship last year.
