WBA super-flyweight champ Kohei Kono of Japan resumed training after he suffered a rib injury during a sparring session in the end of May in preparation for his mandatory defense with compatriot and formerly three-time titlist Koki Kameda then scheduled in July. Although it is an encounter of Japanese compatriots, it will be held in the US under Warrior Promotions. Kono said, gI felt a severe pain after the injury and could neither run nor work at gym, but I have almost recovered from it. My doctor says Ifll be ready after the middle of October.h Hitoshi Watanabe, Konofs manager/promoter, said, gI feel sorry to have bothered people concerned including the US organizers. Kono will start sparring from September and we will accept any fight date after mid-October. I wish Kono to display a good showing in excellent condition.h
