TOKYO, JAPAN
OPBF female bantamweight champ Tsunami Tenkai (21-10, 10 KOs), from Japan, left for Chile today as she will have an ambitious crack at the IBF 118-pound belt against unbeaten Carolina Rodriguez (14-0, 1 KO) in Antofagasta on August 22. Tenkai, ex-WBA 115-pound titlist with four successful defenses, is one of the best girl boxers along with WBA super-fly ruler Naoko Fujioka out of Japan. The busy-punching Japanese previously fought such name Mexican girls as Mariana Juarez, Janeth Perez, Zulina Munoz, Jessica Chavez, Arely Mucino, though losing hard-fought decisions in Mexico, and is more experienced than the defending champ Carolina who is the very first world titlist from Chile. Tenkai is accompanied by his manager/trainer Toshihiro Yamaki, formerly famous kick boxer, and aims to win a world throne again even if she travels so far to South America. Tenkaifs cute face and non-stop punching will attract Chilean spectators without doubt.
