YAEGASHI TO APPEAR IN TUNE-UP BOUT AGAINST INDONESIAN SAID

August 20, 2015

TOKYO, JAPAN

Why is Akira Yaegashi so popular among fight fans here in Japan? Itfs because of his tremendous gameness and fighting spirit shown in every fight, regardless of result. Unlike our world champs such as Uchiyama, Yamanaka, Ioka and Inoue who are scientific hard-punchers of hitting without getting hit, Yaegashi recklessly mixed it up to exchange hot rallies with Roman Gonzalez, Pedro Guevara, Kazuto Ioka and Pornsawan Porpramook. Whenever you come and see his fight, you will get your moneyfs worth in watching his do-or-die performance even against formidable opposition. Thatfs Yaegashi, two-time world champ who had acquired the world belts in the 105-pound and 112-pound categories. The 32-year-old veteranfs unfinished business is to obtain the 108-pound throne to be a triple-crown winner before hanging up gloves for good.

Yaegashi, after annihilation by Pedro Guevara with the vacant WBC light-fly belt at stake last December, made a fine return to the squared circle by scoring a quick stoppage of Thailandfs Songsaenlek Phosuwangym in two rounds this May. The little giant will appear again tonight at the Korakuen Hall where he will face Indonesian Said M. Said (10-5-1, 4 KOs) in a tune-up bout for his attempt to gain his third throne in his second next bout, hopefully. Yaegashi and Said both tipped the beam at 112 pounds, though his final target is to have a shot at the 108-pound belt. This bout beneath the Japanese national feather title bout between defending champ Satoshi Hosono and Tatsuya Otsubo will be presented by Ohashi Promotions.
